Independence Day

“I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will.”

― Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre

The quote above proves no human is superior than the other. We have proved it 74 years back when we fought for our Independence against the British. We not only became an Independent country on basis of governance but also economically. For over 200 years of British rule it was not easy to manage a vast country like ours but we succeeded.

Here are some facts about our country:-

India is named after the river Indus.

India has had 14 Prime Ministers out of which one has been a female Prime Minister.

India has had 13 full-time Presidents out of which only one has been a woman.

The Indian National Flag was designed by Pingali Venkayya who was one of the freedom fighters and also an agricultural from Andhra Pradesh.

India's national anthem was adopted three years of post-independence.

Mahatma Gandhi wasn't able to celebrate the first Independence Day in Delhi.

“Our Nation is like a tree of which the original trunk is Swarajya and the branches are Swadeshi and Boycott.”—Bal Gangadhar Tilak
The national anthem is sung on this day, flag-rising ceremonies and drills are also conducted in every corner as a tribute to the Nation.
We just don't celebrate this day as a festival , we celebrate it as an honour, pride and a tribute to all whom we have lost in the fight for Independence
