Into The Abyss
Silence bestowed on the tranquil hill,
No birds would hum, no wind's soft shrill
I felt the whole world fit into my eye
As the night moon ascended the sky.
I sat on the roof stargazing,
In the silent lonely night,
When I suddenly heard footsteps creak
And saw traces of a flickering flashlight.
Someone was on the hill, I'd seen them move,
"Go Inspect" said my intuition,
With my jacket as my armour I set out to find,
The intruder's truest intentions.
I followed the noise to the hill's creek,
And watched as the silhouette bend over the ledge
And as the dawn of horror crept upon me
He had already fallen down the edge.
The silence of the night was uninterrupted, except for a soft thud,
For the night no longer seems any unusual than it should be,
Because no one will ever know what happened today,
Well- no one, except me.
