A Darker Face

Image
The girl was reading the "Darker Phase", She was looking at the book with a vigilant gaze, All she knew that she was alone at home, While burglars were on their roam. Soon she heard a knocking sound, She leapt from her seat and turned around, The sound was not from the door outside, It came from the cellar beside. She gathered her guts and opened the door, She shouted and screamed and touched the floor, Neither a burglar nor a ghost, A prank played by a cousin whom she loved the most. When she got up, she came to know, That he entered the house with a voice very low, They laughed and played till her parents were back, How stupid she was, she told to Zack.

The Lost Coin

Image
Once across the street as I went, Something shined and I quickly bent, I saw a ten rupee coin on the road, Immediately I entered my thinking mode. The obvious act would be to return it to the police, But such a small amount who would notice? Then came the options I could buy from it, Chips, chocolates or any kinds of sweet. I gave a little thought to the buying options again, Should I buy my favourite gel pen? Standing by the roadside I continued to think, Gazing at the coin without a blink. Then came a man who owned the store, Walking steadily stood before, Told me happily ''Thank you son'', Pointed to the coin and said "That is the one", He told me that he had lost it earlier today, And couldn't find where the coin did lay, Thus went the hope of buying from my eye, I looked at the coin and waved goodbye.

Lockdown Days

Image
The sun in the sky had lost it's light, The sky was covered with clouds all night, All schools empty all playgrounds vacant, Everyone waiting for something pleasant. All could be seen is a deserted street, No more ice cream as a Sunday treat, The lives of the folk have come to a halt, All because of this virus's fault. But we still look back to the good old days, It makes us happy it lightens our face, The life has come to such a situation, Where thousands are dying for living conditions. The virus is the cause for the loss of many, The people alive are struggling for a penny, The home less fellows away from their hut, All ways visible seem to be shut. We all hope to end this soon, Brightness spread on Diwali moon, The days in front seem to be happier, As we all return to a life more merrier. Though everything has not ended yet, Everyone start to cheer up now, The earth shall restore back to its place, No more sorrow we would allow

The lost joys of Summer

Image
The Spring had gone a long away, Summer was said to be on its way, But something happened that we dread to know, All joys of Summer suffered so low. It was a time admist of May, When the Summer days were not so gray, All children on the verge of dusk -- Went out to play without a mask. The evenings were filled with the cricket's sound, And the bark of our neighbour's greyhound, Now all the sound comes from TV or phone-- All the fun seems long time gone. Though missed a Summer won't miss the next, With all precautions would do the rest, We all hope a Summer soon-- And a whole night with a big bright moon.

A LIGHT DRIZZLE

Image
The sun was not visible in the sky, The clouds had rose up so high, A drop so tiny touched the ground, Soon the rain was all around. All men with funny long coats, And children with their paper boats, Went out to see the rain's beauty, While some desperate fellows did their duty. A light drizzle with a gust of wind, Those who enjoyed widely grinned, While there were some who hated the funs, Everyone became doctor all at once. The rain had stopped, the roads are wet, The sun again is in a visible state, But what so astounding is that beautiful rainbow, Which made the fun of rain seemed so low.
